  17. Get this in writing, and be sure it says *baud*.

  19. Remember, your 28,800 bps modem is only running at 2400 baud. Baud and
  20. bps are *not* the same thing, and you can use the difference to hang them.

  22. Baud is the number of *symbols* per second. Each symbol can carry multiple
  23. bits if the modulation is sufficiently complex.
